Obituary of Michael J. Horan

Horan, Michael J., 66, of St. Petersburg died Saturday, May 26, of cancer. Mike, as he was known to most, is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret, son, Michael of St. Petersburg, daughter, Teresa of San Antonio, TX, and step-children Robert, of Miami, and Molly of New York City; also sisters Normae, Doris, Kathy, Sandy, and brother Jerry, of MI, NC and GA; grandchildren Chance, Kimiko and Katarina; and seven nieces and nephews. Born in Big Rapids, MI, Mike moved to Gulfport with his family at the age of nine. A lifelong Ford mechanic retired from Walker Ford in 2008, ,he also served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mike was an avid fisherman, accomplished cook and loved the outdoors and working with his dog, Bandit. He was a member of and active in the life of Lakewood United Methodust Church, was always ready to lend a helping han. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 30 at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 5995 ML King, Jr. Street South, St. Petersburg, time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church and to Suncoast Hospice. His passing leaves a hole in many hearts.
