Our deepest sympathy to Mary Margaret & the rest of Mike's family. Cancer is just such bad stuff. Mike was the "go to guy" at our church when you wanted action! Jeff regrets he will be in the Twin Cities on June 30, but "his better half" will be at church to celebrate Mike's life. Love, Gloria Wilcox

Mike Horan was an angel of help to everyone. So many times he would help my son Donald with his car problems. He was never too busy. We have known Mike for a long time and thought he was the true Christian. We send our love to his wife Mary Margaret and would be glad to help in any way we can. Knowing Mike was our blessing.

Mike stepped in with his loving wife, Mary Margaret, when my husband died in 2008. He came for me every Sunday and after he wheeled me down from my 8th floor condo and loaded the wheel chair in his car, they took me to worship @ Lakewood. After the service they brought me home, faithfully every week, from January until November. When I moved to DC, it was Mike who took all of the furniture from my condo to the Church to be sold to members of the coongregation and @ the annual Flea Market. Many people think that their friends were saints, but my friend, Mike really was a saint. He decided a long time ago to do excellent things for others, and he did them in an excellent way....always a kind smile, and encouraging word...he touched my heart many times. "Death ends a life, but not a relationship, which struggles on in the survivor's mind toward some resolution whcih it never finds." Some day, Mike, when I leave this shore and hear people say "There she goes !" I know I will hear your voice shout out to me: "Here she comes !" "Well done, good and faithful servant."

I remember my first encounter of Mike appearing gruff and burly, but contrary to his appearance he was a guy with a big heart. He did many things behind the scenes for Lakewood and people. Any event, what ever was needed (chairs, tables, podium, etc) Mike would do it. Like a church mouse working its magic, the event was set up just right. He helped so many people with various things and was a great handyman for the church and a great cook for the 2nd Sunday Lunch bunches..providing his signature "Sticky Buns" made from scratch using yeast for this and many other events....they were the best! Mike put everyone before himself. He never complained about the long/unusual hours he put in or the events he was asked to attend. Whenever he could he would be there. Mike will be remembered for his kind, thoughtful and caring ways and be missed greatly.

Mike was a surrogate husband to most of the ladies of Lakewood UMC. All we had to do was call and tell Mike what had broken or needed to be replaced and within the hour he was at your door with tools in hand. He put up a new ceiling in my family room when the old one caved in and fell. He did a beautiful job and everytime I look at my ceiling I will remember Mike. Always a willing helper no matter who you were or what you needed. He will be missed more than words can say. I'd like to believe he is up there fishin' with Jesus. Love you Mike.
