Obituary of Stephen Laverne Brickson

Brickson, Stephen Laverne Born August 13, 1954 Died May 18, 2010 Steve lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday after a nine month struggle. In August the doctor gave him two months to live, but true to form, Steve was too obstinate to cooperate. He lived his life the way most of us wish we could, with no regret, and not caring what anyone else thought. Steve was a true son of Port Tampa, well before it was a chic place to live and when it was considered the other side of the tracks. He might well have been a graduate of Robinson High School, if he could have made it past the lake that stood between his childhood home on Iowa Avenue and the school. Steve owned several businesses in his lifetime, before he hurt his back and decided he would dedicate his life to fishing and various other pleasures. Steve was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father Lucky Brickson and brother Michael Brickson. He is survived by his mother, Beverly Brickson, children, Michael (Tanya) Brickson, Sally Brickson, Kathy (Matt Nimmo) Dickson, Severin Dickson, Chris Fagan and Rhianon Fagan and newborn granddaughter Sarah Nimmo, siblings Teresa Stage, Daniel (Audrey) Brickson, Mary Brickson, Vicki France, Patricia Donnelly, Paul (Penny Jo) Brickson and Charlie Brickson; many nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends including Rick Gorsuch, Richard Fagan and Rose Boyer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice. A visitation will be held Saturday May 22, 2010 from 2pm to 4 pm at ALife Tribute - 716 Seminole Blvd. Largo, FL.
