We had a wonderful time of it and I’m blessed to be able to have those memories, riding your pony and climbing your parents cherry tree as kids, cheerleading in my living room while my dad tried to nap, hahaha...long walks as teens discussing our “huge” problems and joys, our kids, the day Micheal pored olive oil on your couch or course he was 3, our phone calls, texts, trips, and of course always having a positive voice telling me “you can do this Nan, I’m here” each step of the way you were there through the good times and the most painful. . I sure know no one will be calling me on my birthday to sing “happy birthday “ in a Marilyn Monroe voice anymore! My journey will be different now. Who will jitterbug with me? You were crazy, fun, kind, and I will miss you every day for the rest of my life. See you later.

I'm beating back the tears as I try to collect my thoughts. I rode by the old farm house this summer and Michelle has been there to visit an acquaintance who now owns it. So many memories of uncle Bill, aunt Janet, Richard, Sue and of course Maryellen. If I could go back in time it would be the annual family picnic; just to relive one day, I think that would be it.
How could one forget her infectious laugh and her stern pointing finger as she disciplined my son Gregory. She once sat him in the corner on the dunce chair. Of course she never consulted me but she was right, as usual, he had it coming. She tried terroising the boys with her threatning overtone but even at their young age they saw through the act. Behind the demnior was the kind, caring and loving person that my dear cousin was. She will be missed.

I would just like to say that I have never met someone more selfless and loving then my grandmother in all my years of living. She would always go out of her way to make those around her happy and would often put other peoples needs before her own. She was truly an amazing person that I enjoyed spending time with and talking to everytime I got the chance too. I will never forget all the times we had together and will continue to miss her for the rest of my life as she was such an important part of it.

So many memories to share from our Grammy and Vovó outings with the grandkids in Clermont and all our Christmas and kids graduations, together.... Mary Ellen did not like having her picture taken, but we could trick her sometimes and so did the kids and grandkids! One of our favorites is from our last Christmas in our old house in Trinity! I just love the one with Nicholas and Noah, where you can see all the love they shared...
We will miss her and her fun and caring way... I will specially miss our trips with the kids to Winter Garden, the Grammies talk...
But those memories will always fill our hearts with joy again and we will be always thankful that we could have her in our lives and family!

Mary Ellen was my dearest cousin and friend. I will always remember her antics... She was a born comedian. Remembering the wonderful memories of all the good times we had on Grand Island. Mary Ellen was such a thoughtful and giving person, always willing to help anyone. She was so brave and positive in dealing with her insidious disease. The good memories we shared will sustain me. She touched many lives. Until we meet again... Your loving Cousin, Linda.

I would like to thank everyone for the heartfelt wishes over the past week from our entire family. My mother was a special person and will be sorely missed by everyone in our family. I would affectionally let her know she was crazy, but I wouldn’t trade any of my memories for all the money in the world.
In 2013, my entire family was elated when she finally moved to Florida to be closer to all us. She left snowy Buffalo for the sunshine of St. Petersburg. She kept busy volunteering at Hospice and Visiting Angels and seemed to always be on the run. Although I could see the pain and discomfort in her eyes as she fought tirelessly for nearly 6 years, she did her best to hide the terrible disease from us. Even in her final days she did not want to admit how sick she was to avoid worrying anyone. Her legacy will live on with Jason and I, as well as her grandchildren, who loved her crazy antics. She truly was one of kind.
I want to reiterate that she always spoke fondly of all her friends and family. She was proud to know each one of you and each of you kept her going.
Personally, I will miss the last-minute calls to stop by her house to help her with different issues she created. My two favorite instances occurred in the past few years. Once, when she left the water on in the bathtub and flooded the entire house. We spent days drying everything out and ripping out Pergo floors and carpeting. To this day I think she did it on purpose to get new carpeting. The second time occurred when she wanted the above ground pool removed. She took a sharp object to the aluminum pool side and punctured it with holes, ensuring that all the water was removed. Of course, this was in the middle of July and we spent the next few days removing the pool and filling in the hole in the ground. Seventeen yards to dirt was a lot more than I expected.
Her sudden departure has fundamentally changed me forever and I will miss her dearly. May she finally find some peace.

Grandma Elle, you were one of the funniest, sweetest and wildest people I knew. So many memories and stories. I could be myself around you and know that you would think I was a bit wild too and that it didn’t matter, you’d still accept me for who I am. I know, and I believe you knew, that all the best people out there are just a little wild anyway. You will make the after party of life just a little more wild and one day we will all be together again to make that after party another crazy Kovacsev family experience. Until then, rest well and stay wild!

Mary Ellen to most, Grammy to me. A grandmother, family member, and person you could truly talk to. I would always feels comfortable talking to her about my life and would love to hear the stories about her's. All she was for the past 14 years was supportive and caring of me. I've tried my hardest to show her the appreciation she deserves, my only regret is feeling as if she deserved more. As a final implement of my appreciation I shared this with her: The times we shared have been nothing but wonderful. Speaking with you helped me cope with COVID and everything I was dealing with. While you've been the best grandmother a grandson could ask for, you've also been a role model and beacon of joy to me. I don't know what the future holds but I want you to know that I'm going to be fine, everyone will be. I wanted to say that I can't begin to measure the length of my love for you. You've been so much more than a grandmother to me, you've taught why humility is important, you've shown me life isn't black and white but rather grey, and you've given me joy and a reason to fight for what I love. You don't know how many times I've told myself to kick em high, kick em low, go noah go to myself as a boost of energy in a game knowing your right there with me, as you will be in the next game and the next. The past few years you've been nothing but modest and deserve a peaceful rest. Because we both know your family is strong and you'll always be apart of it, I love you Grammy from the bottom of my heart.

While growing up, I quite often visited the Haen family on Grand Island, NY .and played with her brother, Richard, (Ricky to me). Richard had a "favorite" name he used to call Mary Ellen. That nickname was "Harry Melon" which drove her "crazy".
Mary Ellen was a great and funny cousin who always told you EXACTLY what she thought!
One thing you may/may not know about Mary Ellen is that she was a great dancer and a lot of fun, especially at family weddings/anniversary events.
I will truly miss her but I will ALWAYS have and cherish those Happy Memories!
GOD BLESS YOU! Mary Ellen!

My mother constantly gave without expectations in return. She was the biggest supporter of both my brother and I, and continued that unwavering support to our wives and especially our children. She had an amazingly giving heart. She continued to show her selflessness even in her retirement by volunteering at Hospice and caring for others in need. She was an amazing example of what human empathy and kindness look like in practice. She cared deeply for all her extended family and friends. They added so much to her life. I could always talk to her no matter what and she would truly listen. She had a wicked sense of humor and cursed like a sailor(even though she would deny it) which made her even more endearing to us. I will miss her beyond belief as she was an enormous figure in my life. Although I hate the fact that she won’t be able to continue to share in major events to come, she will be in my thoughts daily. I want to thank her for not only giving me life, but setting an example of how that life should be lived: with love, loyalty, devotion to family, and a sense of humor.

Mary Ellen, I'm so thankful for you. Thankful you raised such an amazing son who is the best life partner I could have asked for, thankful you've been such a wonderful grandmother to our boys and shown them so much love, thankful for all your quirks and all the laughter we shared. I'm also truly thankful for our friendship over the years. It was a privilege to know you & spend time with you, and talk with you about everything under the sun. I will especially cherish our trips together. Those memories of us in Europe will stay with me forever. Love you! ❤️
