Jimmy, Gary, and "Mom", You are all like family to me and have been there through the most tragic part of my life, and now, I just hope you are able to find some comfort. We will all miss her dearly, especially rockin out at the WINA shows, but she had a great run and went out with more love than most people will ever know! She had the best anyone could ask for here on earth and now she's moved on the next best thing! I love you guys and I will see you at the "Celebration of Her Life" on Saturday. Stay strong and keep her in your thoughts, especially as you rock out this weekend! You know she will be there movin' and groovin', right along with Bobby and all the others before! Love you guys!!

Dear Lil, Gary and Jimmy, Our sincere condolences on the passing of your mother/granny : We only met her through our short chats about a feisty, strong, determined, independent, strong willed lady....Hmmm... this sounds somewhat familiar....Lil, "the apple does not fall far from the tree". Gary,we guess you have "your hands full" though, we also know you feel is it QUITE WORTH IT. You all have fun celebrating her life, specially since she is now in a much better place than ANY of us. Fondly, Nydia and Mel

How nice to know Olga's love for life will carry on through her family and friends, yet also reunite with pass loved ones. Although I do not remember ever meeting Olga, I do know that many loving stories have been passed on by Mom Joyce and AuntClaudette. You are in my thoughts.
Love, Kim

My sincere condolences to all of you. Though our Olga loved life, she is far happier now. Much like my Mom, who recently passed, she is in a mind and body that no longer fails her, one that can, once again, keep up with her spirit! She was a dear lady who loved it when I would sneak those chocolates to her from the lobby candy dish as she snuggled in the blanket that I brought "just for her" to keep her warm as she waited for Dr.Dave!!!! Again, like Mom...she was cute, cute cute!!!
Love to all,
The Widells

To Lil and family,
You are such a caring and loving family, and though I never knew Olga well, I know she had to have been so proud of you and that she left this world with a peace that you will all continue to love and care for each other as you always have.
Continue to do her proud. Stay strong; love life.
Love,
Carey

Till a week ago, it had been near 30 years since I last was able to see my grandmother, though, throughout the years, she and I talked often on the phone. I feel that I have been blessed to have been able to go and see her 2 days before she passed.
As several family members know, I am not able to remember my past, but I will always hold dear to my heart of our conversations since my accident. She gave to me words of wisdom that helped me through my time of healing. I was able to spend some time with grandma, and for me, it was a gift from God. He allowed me my hearts desire, which was to be able to see my grandmother and to be able to give her a hug and kiss, and to tell her that we love her dearly.
For me, and in my eyes, I saw a woman, who had great strength and a will. And I feel that it was those qualities that were somehow passed on to me that helped me through the years to survive and to keep moving forward. I remember once when she and I were on the phone. It was not long after I had been shot when she told me that I needed to learn to survive and to keep my chin up. She had told me that there were worse things to happen in this world and that I needed to be thankful for what I did not lose.
It brings gladness to my heart to know that she was in the arms of those who loved and took care of her, and that she is now with Grandpa and those who have passed before her.
Grandma was Godâ??s gift to us all. May she now smile upon us as we remember her.

We are sending you our condolences. So many years ago we were blessed to have Fred and Olga Fish as our dear friends. They were special folks. They would do anything for you if you were their friend. There are many good memories that come to mind when we think of all that we shared those years ago.

This particular copy of Olga's obituary was updated to include and amend some information:
Olga Fish, nee Bejda
Survived by 15 great grandchildren
I would also like to mention that Olga was the first person in the world to survive after having a tumor removed from within the center of her brain in 1962. ...in the medical education texts, she was that 36-year-old caucasion female. Truly a medical and spiritual marvel!

Nowhere in the STPTimes did it mention her birthplace, but I recognized the places mentioned. FYI a man named Fish was the earliest settler in Old Brooklyn, a Cleveland neighborhood and the Fish homestead is still there at the corner of Mapledale & Pearl Rd.44109. I knew Alan and Harlan Fish.

So many wonderful memories of a dear, dear Aunt. My childhood was very special because of her. Her house was always filled with warmth, love, and laughter. She will remain in my heart forever. My sincerest condolences to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They've lost a true "matriarch."

Lil, even though I only met your Mom once, I really enjoyed talking to her after Thanksgiving dinner. For all that she has been through and in turn all that you have been through, what a wild ride, eh? I know things have not been easy for you lately and I know how ill she was. Like I said in the email, even when we know it's coming, it's never easy.
Love you lots,
Debby
