I knew Mike when he worked in Oswego and wrote an article about him and his track gang that was published in Trains Magazine. If any family members would like a copy of the article or photos, contact me via Facebook.

I smile as I recall Mike and how he loved all he met. The following is a prayer for those whose lives are most altered by his death.
Facing the Unknown
Kind and caring God,
my once secure life
now holds tremendous change.
Come into my turmoil
and quiet my anxiety.
Be there with the gifts
of your peace and guidance.
Let me not be overwhelmed with fear of the unknown.
Grant me the ability
to face what awaits me.
Take my hand and assure me
that you will always be with me,
no matter what the future holds.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket,
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry whereever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time of sadness. May God Bless ...
Love - June, Bob, Joe, Tom, Chris and Melissa, Julian, Sean & Sophia

My cousin, Mike, was a very special person to me. I first met him in the early 60's. My parents would visit his family in Oswego, NY on occasions. He and Nancy were always so kind to my parents. even after my dad passed away he was Mike's Uncle, Mike would visit my Mom. both of my parents loved him very much.
After my Mom passed away, I still kept in touch with Mike and his family. When I started the Michel Family reunion, he was the first to be very supportive of my efforts and made sure he attended the first one.
I was able to visit Mike and Nancy on a few occasions in later years. They always opened their house to me and made my visits memorable. The time I went to Florida in 2003 to attend a training class for my job, I stayed with Mike and Nancy. That was when I learned how much love he had to give.
We learned a lot about each other and about our family background. When I left their home after a week's stay I was no longer just a cousin, but part of their family. I went back in 2004 to another training class and got to visit with Mike again. On his 80th birthday, my fiance and I were able to help him celebrate. Mike and I were able to spend some together time just to visit. Over the last few years I have learned what an incredible man he was.
I am so fortunate and proud to have had Mike not only as my cousin but also as a friend and someone who treated me as one of his daughters. Truly my life has been influenced and a better one because of Mike Michel. I will miss him very much.
