Obituary of Thomas Lefko

Tom Lefko, aka "Old Indian Tom" On January 21,2013 God reached out His Heavenly hands to welcome SMSgt. Thomas Lefko, 81, aka "Old Indian Tom" into eternal life. Tom lived in Toms River, NJ for over 40 years before moving to Largo, Florida 17 years ago. Tom was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and proudly served during the Korean Conflict and was also stationed in France, Okinawa, Germany and Japan. His love of the military led to a distinguished 32 year career in the Air Force and Air National Guard where he achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retiring, Tom became an active part of Toms River High School South (his children's high school) as President of the Toms River High School Indians All Sports Booster Club where he became "Old Indian Tom". He also had a Disc Jockey career for 25 plus years. He loved to camp and became a salesman for the resort at Outdoor World in NJ where he used to camp with his wife. He was the activities director of a resort in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for a year and Virginia Beach for 6 years. He loved to dance and spend a lot of time with his wife Marge. While in Largo, FL., he became actively involved at the Oakcrest Acorn MHC at the park where he resided. He was president of the North East Club and would DJ many of their events. He was also entertainment coordinator for the Largo Larks, a fun loving social group of friends for 15 years. He is survived by his loving wife Marge of 53 years, his daughter Lori Bujalski and her husband Bill from Manville, NJ, his son Gary Lefko and his wife Rebecca from Nunn, CO, his son Randy Lefko from Green Cove Springs, FL and his friend Teri Briggs from Orange Park, FL., his sister Maryann Giacomello from Merrick, NY, his brother in law Robert Gamboa and his wife Flo from Largo, FL, his sister in law Mary Caran from Louisville, GA, and his only granddaughter Danya Brinson from Waurika, OK. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends. Tom left us quietly, his thoughts unknown but Alzheimer's took him from us several years ago. We've said goodbye many times but this is our final goodbye and we were proud to have him as a husband, a father and a friend. He will be deeply missed, but his gentle fun loving spirit will forever remain with those who so loved him. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's foundation at http://www.alzfdn.org or Hospice at http://www.thehospice.org.
