Obituary of Dennis Michael McAleer

72, of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday December 28, 2012 at Florida Hospital of Tampa, Florida. Dennis was born October 12, 1940 to Hugh and Margery (Dietz) Stoner in Warren, Ohio. The youngest of 3 children, He graduated from Warren G. Harding High school in 1957. Dennis joined the Navy in 1958. He served overseas for 4 years as a Signalman on the USS Destroyer Battleship nicknamed the Gattling. After his enlistment he met his beautiful bride, Carole Jane Morice in 1962. It was love at first sight and married 3 months later in Warren, Ohio. He worked for Grinnell Manufacturing for 2 years then decided to make a change and worked for Packard Electric. He worked at Packard for 33 years as a hi-lift operator and retired in 1997. After retirement he and Carole Moved to North Fort Myers and he continued to work as a manager for Scotties marina in N. Ft. Myers. Dennis loved to spend time with his wife Carole, read and spend time in the outdoors. But his passion was being near the water. His love for fishing was unmatched. Dennis loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was actively involved with the Elks and Moose clubs. He and Carole loved boating at Ashtabula Yacht Club Ohio where they were members for 10 years and at Old Bridge Village in Fort Myers Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie and Brother Duane. Dennis is survived by his wife Carole; Sons, Michael (Debbie), Matthew (Alexis) and Ryan (Lorena). Grandchildren; Rachael, Allie, Brianna, Giana, Nikolas, Lauren and Shaun; Sister Elaine and half sister Patti. A private memorial service will be held for family and friends at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dennis wished that donations would be sent to the Disabled American Veterans.
