Obituary of Goldwin L. Morris

Morris, Goldwin L. 71, of Hudson, FL, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Hospice of New Port Richey. Born in Boscobel, St. Peter, Barbados he came to the United States in 1960, where he joined his mom and dad in Harlem, New York. He moved from BayShore, NY to Hudson, FL in September 2000. He was a graduate of City College in New York, the Manhattan campus majoring in Electrical Engineering. Goldwin worked for Williamsburg Steel Company from 1962 to 1978 and then with the New York City Transit Authority from 1978 to 2000. He officially retired in 2000 and moved to FL. He joined Faith United Methodist Church in 2000. He loved his church and was a faithful member. He was City College alum and a member of the New York City Transit Retiree of FL Hernando/Pasco Chapter 7. He loved trains, carpentry, photography and traveling. Goldwin was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his son, David A. Morris; brothers, David and Andrew Morris; sister, Wavenie Morris and Maylene Jones and his mother, Ercil E. Morris. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jeanette M. Morris; son, Earl Morris and his wife Melissa; father, Lebert Morris; sisters, Janice (Stanley) Channer; Dorothy (Sylvester) Christopher; 2 grandchildren, Gerald Morris and Genice Morris; aunt, Gwendolyn Phillips of Barbados; adopted daughter, Dr. Kyla Huesner Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 2pm to 3pm at Faith United Methodist Church, 12128 State Rd 52, Hudson, FL, where a funeral service will be held at 3pm.
