Obituary of Linda Litwa-Jones

Wife of Nero M. Jones of 10374 Myrtle Oak Lane, Seminole, FL 33777passed away on October 8, 2011 at her home with family at her side. She was born in Amsterdam, NY to Louis, deceased, and Stella (Frederick) Wojcik. She attended Amsterdam schools and later pursued a 35-year career in various Veteran Administration Medical Centers throughout the country serving in the capacity of Associate Director at Stratton Veteran Administration Medical Center in Albany beginning in 1996. From 1999-2005 she was Director of Patient Management Systems at the Department of VA, Bay Pines, FL until she retired from the VA in 2005. She continued to work for the VA as a self-employed IT Consultant through 2009. She was a strong advocate for our nation's veterans with a passion for ensuring the highest quality of patient care. She was a member of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and a Certified Professional in Health Information Management Systems (CPHIMS), a member of Zonta International and served on the Board of Directors for Neurochemical Research. Lyn was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed golfing, traveling, frequenting casinos, jazz festivals, family gatherings, gardening, and reading. Her favorite past-time activities included crafts and interior design. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Nero Jones of Seminole, FL, step-daughter Sonjia (Derrick) Worthy of Charlotte, NC, step-son Maurice Jones of Watervliet, NY, step-grandchildren Adrian Jones of Charlotte, NC, Yvette-Marie Jones of Raleigh, NC, Gabby Jones of Watervliet, NY, brother-in-law Anthony Jones of Darien, GA, sister Barbara (Kenneth) Gumienny of Amsterdam, NY, niece Melissa (Phillip) Kutas of Malta, NY, nephew Ryan Gumienny of Los Angeles, CA, great-nephew Owen Kutas also of Malta, NY and many other extended family members and friends. A private cremation memorial service was held at A Life Tribute Funeral Care in Largo, FL on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. On behalf of Lyn's memory, contributions may be made to Suncoast Hospice-Ivory Team, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd. Clearwater, FL 33760-9962.
