Obituary of James Sabin

James Andrew Sabin, or 'Drew', was born November 26th, 1960 in 2011, in St. Petersburg, and grew up and lived in Gulfport. He faced many challenges early in his educational career due to a debilitating stutter and an undiagnosed learning disability. But he found solace and voice through poetry and writing. "Writing under the psuedonym 'Whittler', Drew won admiration worldwide for his simple. heartfelt verse. "Physical disability made it difficult for Drew to provide a secure lifestyle for himself. But his kind heart and vibrant personality attracted a support system of dear friends, who became as a second family to him. "After a long battle with disease, Drew finally succumbed on March 6th, 2011, He is survived by Karen Rodgers (stepdaughter), David Rogers (stepson), grandaughters Louise and Lilia Jayne, his mother Jacqueline Brown, his brothers Craig Sabin and Michael Sabin, his stepbrothers John Brown, Peter Brown and Michael Brown, his stepsister Eileen Reilly, and twelve nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends. "Whether you'd just met him, or you'd known him for years, Drew left an indelible mark upon your heart. His loss will be keenly felt, and his kind eyes and loud laugh will be fondly remembered.
