Obituary of Robert Alan Young

Robert Alan Young “Rob” 86, of Palm Harbor Florida, formerly of Toms River, NJ, died December 20th 2023 at 2:20pm.

Robert was born in Chester, Pennsylvania. He attended Monmouth College, where he graduated with a BS in Business Administration and then attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he received his MBA Management Degree- Cum Laude. Robert started his career with Monmouth College Admissions for seven years and was Director of Admissions for his first two years. Robert spent most of his career as a Director of Industrial Development in Lakewood, NJ and Dover, DE; and moved to Florida in 1989. There, he focused on property management until his retirement in 2002.

Robert proudly served in the US Army for two years ’60 - ’62 yet rooted for Navy in the Army/Navy games! Robert and the family enjoyed camping trips and spent a lot of time in Ocean City, NJ where Robert had spent most of his summers as a child and young adult. Robert shared his love of dogs by working with Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions. One of Robert’s most gratifying achievements was that he was able to place nearly 2000 retired racing greyhounds in their forever homes.

He also volunteered for his other passions; music and baseball; spending hours at Ruth Eckert Hall, Straz Theatre, and Phillies Spring training. Robert loved long walks with his greyhounds and his favorite saying whenever crossing paths with other walkers was, “Another beautiful day in paradise!”

Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Ray Young, his son Douglas Ulbricht, and the love of his life, his wife of thirty-one years- Frances Snyder Young. Robert is survived by his son Robert Young of NH; daughter, Kimberly Young of WY; daughter Suzanne Dietrich of NJ. Rob also has 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
