Obituary of James Howard Moss

James Howard Moss, 67, of Largo passed away May 21, 2023, at Suncoast Hospice. Born in Elloree, South Carolina on September 5, 1955, raised in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and he graduated from Sharon High School in 1973.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Retis and Lorraine Moss (nee Pauling), his sister Sharon R. Moss (2013), brothers Vernon ‘Mike’ Pauling (2015), Anthony ‘Ricky’ Pauling (2021). Howard is survived by his sisters Retis P. Moss and Daisey L. Williams and brother Stephen N. Moss, aunt Floretha Drayton (nee Moss), uncles Jacob Moss, Timothy Moss, Jr and Joe Moss, five nieces, four grandnieces, seven grandnephews, three great-grandnieces, two great-grandnephews and a host of cousins, second cousins, and third cousins that loved him.

Howard left Pennsylvania after spending two years at Youngstown State University on a football scholarship majoring in art, and moved to Largo, Florida, in 1976, made it his home and lived there for the last 47 years. Howard made his living doing welding as the owner of Howard’s Welding until the building was sold in 2008 and turned into a Walgreen’s. Howard was also an Artist. Howard friends thought the world of him, as a great man who love Pink Floyd and Bob Marley, he would do anything for his friends when needed, was a great cook and loved gardening. Howard beautiful smile and big, lovable spirit will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him and mostly by his best friends Roy and Dumpy and roommates Jamie Lee Tennant and Douglas Closterman.

Howard’s memorial service will be held on May 27, 2023, at 6 pm 410 Gulf Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida by good friend Steve Berg. Cards and flowers can be sent to c/o Tere Moss, 661 Lamb Street, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
