Obituary of Curtis Victor Wyka

Curtis (Curt) Victor Wyka, of Clearwater, passed on July 24th, 2022, at the age of 68.

Curt is survived by his wife Laurie Bliss, daughter Heidi (Ian) Smith of Wesley Chapel, son Justin (Jessica) Wyka of Largo and daughter Katie Wyka of Saint Petersburg; grandsons Julian and Leo; sister Yvonne (Chuck) Herkey of Jasper, niece Marie, aunt Charlene, and several cousins in Inverness, Florida and Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father Victor and mother Lorraine.

Curt was born in Wytheville, Virginia. He grew up in Long Island, New York, and pursued a life-long passion for art and music. He could pick up a guitar and amaze everyone. In 1979, Curt moved to Florida where he raised his oldest daughter who was born in 1983 and son born in 1988. His youngest daughter was born in 1996. Being a loving father and unique creator were very special to him.

Also known as Rising Eagle, Curt was a gifted artist, singer-songwriter, and instrumentalist. His music was of the Americana, New Age, Rock, and Jazz genres. Every tune was perfect to go on a road trip across the country. He lived a life of color, producing Abstract paintings and pieces with mixed media. Curt also implemented landscapes with distinct brushstrokes and big skies. Bob Ross was one of his favorite painters.

Curt loved being the life-of-the party and shared stories about many adventures. Humor always crept into his repertoire; his children enjoyed all the jokes. He had friends with similar interests. They would discuss music, history, and the arts regularly.

When not creating beautiful sights and sounds, Curt liked traveling to Sedona, Arizona, going to the beach, visiting museums, and good times with family members. He was deeply cherished by all who knew him. At the end of each occasion, Curt always said bye for now.

Curt requested to be with his adoring parents at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Inverness. A celebration of his life will be held with loved ones and close friends at a later date.
