Obituary of Marjorie Joan (Zajac) Goff

Marjorie Joan (Zajac) Goff, 76, of Sarasota died June 26, 2022 after a 7-month illness. Born in Fall River, Ma to Walter A. and Georgette (Lepage) Zajac, Marj attended and graduated from Jesus Mary Academy in Fall River, After graduation, she attended nursing school and worked as an LPN at hospitals in Fall River and Cape Cod.

 

In 1970 she met her future husband of 50 years, Bob, and they settled in Portsmouth, RI where they lived and raised their family until they retired to Sarasota full-time in 2016. Marj was a stay-at-home Mom until her children were grown. She then returned to work as a tour guide at the Preservation Society of Newport County - a job she thoroughly enjoyed as she educated thousands of guests concerning the history of the gilded age mansions the Society maintains.

 

Marj is survived by her adoring husband Bob; her son Steven of Snowmass CO; her daughter Kate and son-in-law Michael Schumann of Phoenix, AZ as well as several cousins and an aunt in Southeastern Ma.

Marj loved meeting new people - many of whom became very close friends for the rest of her life. Her personality lit up every room she entered and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

No services are planned at this time. A Celebration of her life will be scheduled in the fall when all of her family and dear friends are able to gather together..
