Chuck Shepard

Obituary of Chuck Shepard

Frederick Charles "Chuck" Shepard, 72, a long time resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Born in Tampa and raised in his youngest years on the family's Dunedin dairy farm.  After high school,  Chuck served in the Navy for 8 years as an electronics technician (radar) on board the USS Constellation during the time of Vietnam. He also served two years in the Texas National Guard.  After his military service he did attend community college where he earned a AA degree and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.   He worked different kinds of jobs including construction and electronics assembly before continuing his service to his country working at the Veterans Administration Bay Pines Hospital in St. Petersburg for nearly 2 decades, from which he retired.

Chuck was a quiet man who took care of his friends and was always proud of the work he did behind the scenes serving Veterans who were hospitalized. He also loved riding his motorcycle and was an avid reader of his beloved science fiction books.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Wilma.  He survived by his Sister, Carol Shepard Byrum and his Niece Marissa Lynn Byrum.   We will miss his unfailing kindness, generosity, his sense of humor, and his intense desire to see peace in the world.
