Obituary of Melvin Gale Villeme

Villeme, Melvin Gale “PAPA”, 87 of Sun City Center passed away May 20, 2020. He was born May 30, 1932 and raised in Kansas, spending most of his early career in Education as a high school science teacher, coach and an administrator in Topeka.  In 1971 he moved his family to Tampa where he spent the rest of his life. He loved the Florida weather and all the outside activities. After moving to Tampa, he became a Professor and Director in the Education Department at the University of South Florida from 1971 until 2000. Melvin obtained four degrees with his highest a Doctorate in Education. Before his career in education, he served in the US Air Force from 1953-1955 as a pilot and Personnel Service Officer

Melvin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Naomi Jean Villeme.

Throughout his life he was active in coaching and loved playing sports especially football, baseball, basketball, tennis and golf. Melvin was a significant positive influence on his family and they loved him dearly. In addition to sports, he loved to travel; camping in state and national forests was his favorite.

He is survived by his daughters, Rene Kenyon, Kaylin Villeme; grandchildren: Tyler Davies, Mark Lutthans, Melissa Flom, Mallory Davies, Juliette Villeme and Brady Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Melvin will be buried with Military Honors, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
