Obituary of Jean Schmidt Ford

Jean M. (Schmidt) Ford, 93, of Seminole, Florida died November 28, 2022, at her residence.

Born in Fort Madison, Iowa, Jean was the daughter of Leo and Adeline Schmidt and the eldest of eight children. She graduated valedictorian from St. Joseph’s High School in 1946. She worked for eight years as an Eastern Airlines flight attendant. Jean retired in 1994 after working 10 years for the Diocese of St. Petersburg Family Life office in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Jean loved to laugh and welcomed hugs. She enjoyed completing puzzles, playing Scrabble, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Gregory A. Ford of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter Pamela D. Ford of Seminole, Florida; two brothers Carl Schmidt of Naples, Florida, and Jerry Schmidt of Rapid City, South Dakota; and two sisters Donna Braun of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Rosemary Fraune of Waterloo, Iowa.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her son Randal C. Ford of Griffin, Georgia; sister Annette D. Metzger of Middletown, Ohio; and three brothers: Leo Schmidt of Davenport, Iowa Richard Schmidt of Jackson, Missouri, and Harold J. Killoren of Fort Madison, Iowa.

Mass was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Griffin, Georgia on December 5th and Jean was laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, Georgia.
