Obituary of Charles Roy Helke

Charles “Chuck” Roy Helke, age 95, of Largo, passed away on March 10, 2023. He graduated from Wausau High School, 1945. Chuck received his Funeral Director certificate on June 23^rd, 1950 when he graduated from Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #130 in Wausau, WI and the Zor Temple in Madison, WI. Chuck was also the President of the Wisconsin Valley Shrine Club (Zor Temple) in 1973. He was a former member of the Elk’s Club #248, the Kiwanis (joined July 27, 1964), and the Trustee of First Presbyterian Church, all in Wausau, WI, where he was also a member of the Church.

Chuck was a Commander of American Legion Post #10 and on the Citizen’s State Bank Board of Directors Member, beginning in 1973.

Professionally, he was the owner of Helke Funeral Home, Helke Furniture Store, and Helke Ethan Allen Furniture, all in Wausau, WI. Chuck retired in 1993 from his multiple businesses.

Chuck moved to Gulfport, FL in 1987, with his wife Virginia, who preceded him in death.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Lynn Helke.
