Obituary of Lorene Maria Briggs

Lorene Maria Briggs, 70 Gulfport, FL – Lorene ‘Rene’ Briggs passed away peacefully on Oct 11th surrounded by her family. Rene was born on February

17th, 1952, in Manhattan, New York. Though born in Manhattan, she grew up in Brooklyn. She was a loving mother of two children, Adam, and Dorothy. In

Grover Cleveland High School, Rene was a member of the school choir with her best friend, Maureen, who became like her sister. Her love of music

continued to adulthood and she passed on her appreciation for all genres to her children.  She performed for Harlem In Action, an organization working to

restore Harlem in the 80’s, periodically and shared her beautiful voice with others. She enjoyed movies, specifically science fiction and horror. Rene was

also an exceptional artist. She is survived by her son, Adam Jones, and his family, along with her best friend of 60 years Maureen Simmons. She is also

survived by her loving pets: Diamond, Snuggles, Luke, Frankie, Freddy, Goliath, and Risa.
