Obituary of Rita Libby

Rita A. Libby, long time resident of Gulfport, FL was called home to the Lord on August 30, 2022. Rita was 94.

A devoted wife and mother, Rita most enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, playing cards, table games and shuffleboard. Rita was born in Greenville, ME on May 9, 1928 to Joseph E. and Valeda (n. Baillargeon) Audette. After graduating from Mount San Antonio College, Pamona, CA, she moved to Baltimore, MD and married Blair B. Libby in 1952. They raised five children before retiring to Town Shores, Gulfport, FL. Rita and Blair enjoyed retirement of 38 years, including traveling the U.S. and abroad. In 2021, the couple moved to the Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, Pasadena, FL. Rita and Blair celebrated 70 years of marriage on July 17, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.

Rita is survived by Blair, her devoted and loving husband, and two sisters, Charlene and Joan. Rita is also survived by daughter Nancy J. Neun (Greg Neeley), daughter Kathy L. (David) Mueller, son David B. (Debi) Libby, daughter Patricia L. (Harry) Barrick, and son Rev. Robert A. (Mitzi) Libby; 12 grandchildren Brian, Michael, Christopher, Daniel, David, Kate, Drew, Darian, Spencer, Robert, Jessica and Steven; 10 great-grandchildren Caeden, Grayson, Quinn, Kinga, Kaia, Kasja, Hudson, Dawson, Paige and Mila. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Most Holy Name Catholic Church in Gulfport on November 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
