Obituary of J Rush Abbott

J Rush Abbott, 50, of Largo, Florida, passed away at home and went to join his Savior on August 19, 2022.  Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Rush grew up across the South, spending years in Mississippi, Georgia and Florida, before finally choosing Largo as the place to put down his roots and raise a family.

Rush was a very generous man-with his time, attention and heart. He was an incredibly loyal & hard worker, a dedicated and loving father and a friend to all he met. He enjoyed watching his favorite college football team: Florida State and his favorite NHL hockey team: the Tampa Bay Lightning in his free time. He was also known to attend a Rays game or two. Rush was an enthusiastic NHRA fan and attended annual races in Gainesville, FL. He had a deep love for cars and mechanics that led to him graduating from PTEC in 1995 turning that love & passion into his profession.

Rush is preceded in death by his father, John, and a grandson, Parker Michael. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Abbott, his sister Erin (Sean) Kirkpatrick and his loving friend/ex-wife, Marianne.  Rush is greatly missed by his children, daughters, Katie (Justin) Wilson, Austen (Paul Montis) Abbott, Jeanna Abbott, and son Logan Abbott. Additionally, Rush is lovingly remembered and survived by grandsons Blake, Jackson and Emerson, as well as by grandson Lucas and granddaughter Elora, a nephew and several nieces.
