Obituary of Catherine Ellen Veazey

Catherine Ellen “Cate” Veazey, 62, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022, at home in St. Petersburg, FL after a long period of declining health.

Born December 28, 1959, in Boston, MA, Cate—"Cathy” in her younger years—was the second of three daughters of Bill and Carol (Newman) Veazey. She was raised in a lovely neighborhood in Acton, MA. Summers spent in Pt. Connett in Mattapoisett, MA were among her happiest memories. After graduating from North Andover (MA) High School, she attended Springfield College in Worcester, MA for two years before leaving school to marry and start a family. Later, in adulthood, she was proud to get her certificate at CYYY in Maine as a Medical Assistant, and for a time was working hard at starting her own business called “Cate Cares” with the unflagging support of her beloved father, Bill.

Cate was vibrant, passionate, and talented at the viola, swimming, knitting, and any artistic project she set her mind to. Her greatest joy was her four children, and she carried wonderful memories and photos of treasured moments with her everywhere she went.

She is predeceased by her parents. Cate is dearly missed by her sisters: Lynn (Nate) Rockwell and Barbara (Scott) DeWall; her children: Matthew Cicero, Michael (Tara) Cicero, Brian (AnneMarie) Cicero, and Kristen (Adam) Kempton; as well as her five grandchildren: Izzy, Abe, Maggie, Billy and Jack. In addition, she is missed by her stepmother, Julie Veazey, and her step-siblings: Dawn (Marc) Seward, Scott (Kim) Corwin, Julie B. (Ari) Alexenberg, Sharon Stevens (Bobby Meek), Ralph Stevens, and many additional family and friends.

The family plans to celebrate Cate’s life at a later date. Please send a private message for details. A donation to your favorite charity in her memory would be a meaningful and appreciated tribute to her life.
