Obituary of James Morgan Orsi

 

James Morgan Orsi, M.D., 79, formerly of Seaside Park, NJ, and Bethlehem, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. He was born December 24, 1941 in Newark, NJ, son of the late Aristodemo "Dutch" and Anne (Morgan) Orsi.

Dr. Orsi was a graduate of The Pingry School in Hillside, NJ, and Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.  He received an M.D. degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1967 and completed an internship in surgery and residencies in both urology and anesthesiology.  He was board certified in anesthesiology in 1973.  He retired from naval service in 1973 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.


He resided in Allentown and then Bethlehem, PA, where he was a practicing anesthesiologist, first at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown and then for 15 years as Chief of Anesthesia at Muhlenberg Hospital Center in Bethlehem.  After his time in Bethlehem, he lived in Yemassee, SC, and worked as a civilian physician at Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, SC, and Shaw AFB.  He then retired to the Beaufort area of SC and resided there for many years before moving to St. Petersburg, FL, where he passed quietly in his sleep. He loved the Lowcountry region, boating, and was an avid small game hunter and freshwater angler in his spare time.

He is survived by his brother George A., his former wife Martha (D'Alessandro) Orsi, children James P., Michael D., and David G., niece and nephew Anne and Stephen, many cousins, and three grandchildren, Luke, Jack, and Sydney.
